I’ve been listening to “We Don’t Fuck With Cops” by Ryan Cassata and The Taxpayers all weekend, and it’s the kind of track that hits fast and sticks hard. It’s insanely catchy. Like, dangerously catchy. The hook lands immediately, and after one listen I was already walking around with it in my head, wanting to shout it at full volume. It’s one of those rare protest songs that actually works as a song, not just a message. You can feel the rage, but it still has that undeniable sing-along energy that makes you want to scream it with a room full of people.

Ryan and The Taxpayers sound genuinely great together. It’s not a forced feature or a “name on the track” situation. Their styles lock in naturally. Ryan’s vocal delivery has that sharp, honest urgency, and The Taxpayers bring their signature chaotic punk energy that makes everything feel like it’s about to explode in the best way. The result is a full on anti-cop anthem that also calls out the way policing shows up in everyday life, even inside queer communities, even inside our own heads. It’s angry, but it’s also weirdly freeing.
And it’s not just talk. This release is tied to real mutual aid. The song is paired with The Taxpayers’ “Power Trippin’ Dipshits” featuring Ryan on a limited split flexi disc 7″, and all profits go to Open Market MN and a Rent Relief program for Minnesota folks in need. They’ve already raised over $3000, which rocks! This is what punk is supposed to look like. Music that punches up and actually helps people.
There’s also a benefit show coming up April 3 in Minneapolis at Underground with Ryan Cassata, The Taxpayers, and Baby Mahi, and I really hope they play both collab tracks that night. I need to hear these anthems live. I need the moment where the whole room is yelling the chorus back, loud enough to shake the place.
